The payment failed

Quick answer

A failed payment did not reach your loan. Read the reason on the screen: not enough money, wrong PIN, the prompt timed out, the number has no Mobile Money, or a limit was reached. Fix it and try once more. If money left your account anyway, do not pay again; message support.

What to do

  1. "There is not enough money on that Mobile Money account": add money, or pay from another number.
  2. "The PIN entered on the phone was not accepted": try again and type the PIN slowly. Too many wrong PINs can block your Mobile Money; then call MTN or Airtel.
  3. "The payment prompt timed out": start again and approve the prompt as soon as it appears.
  4. "That number has no MTN or Airtel Money account": use a number that has Mobile Money.
  5. "The Mobile Money account's transaction limit was reached": pay a smaller amount or use another account.
  6. "This amount is above what can be paid on this loan": pay less. You cannot pay more than you still owe.

Good to know

  • Check your Mobile Money balance or SMS to see whether money left your account.
  • In the app, do not keep pressing Try again. Check History first so you do not pay twice.

Contact support if

  • money left your account although the payment says it failed
  • the same failure repeats although you have enough money and the right PIN

Have this ready

  • the number that paid
  • the amount and the time
  • the exact message you saw, or a screenshot
