Pay in the Majibu app
Answered here
Quick answer
Open the Majibu app and tap Pay now. Type your MTN or Airtel Money number, or another person's, choose the amount and tap Send payment request. The owner of that number approves the PIN prompt on their phone. Days are added once the payment is credited.
Approve one PIN prompt only. Never share your PIN with anyone.
Steps
- Turn on mobile data or Wi-Fi. Paying from the app needs internet. No data? See Pay without mobile data.
- Open the Majibu app. On Home, tap Pay now.
- Under Payer number, type the MTN or Airtel Money number that will pay: yours or another person's.
- Choose the amount: Catch up (what you owe up to today), a number of days, or Other amount.
- Tap Send payment request.
- The paying phone shows a Mobile Money PIN prompt. Its owner types the PIN there. Approve one prompt only.
- Stay on the screen. When the money arrives you see Payment received and the days added. Check History later.
Good to know
- Paying online at pay.majibuafrica.com works the same way and is the main way to pay. See Pay online with your pay code.
- Older versions of the app show Tap to Pay on Home, which opens the merchant code, and a tab called Other number for the PIN prompt. Update the app in PalmStore.
- "Payment requests are currently unavailable" means the app cannot send prompts right now. Pay online or by merchant code.
- "A payment request is already waiting for your PIN" means approve that prompt. Do not start a new one.
- The day options already include any catch-up amount.
Contact support if
- no PIN prompt arrives after two tries (see The PIN prompt did not come)
- money left the paying number but History shows nothing after 30 minutes
Have this ready
- the number that paid
- the amount
- the date and time you paid
- the transaction ID from the MTN or Airtel SMS
Never send your Mobile Money PIN. Majibu staff never ask for it.
Thank you.
